Sun Airway - “Oh, Naoko”

A friend of mine just introduced me to Sun Airway and it took about two days for me to become hooked. For me, I know a song is great when I casually listen to an album once or twice, walk away from it, and hours later have some ‘random’ song stuck in my head. Then the fun begins when I backtrack and try to remember what exactly it was that I was listening to. That’s what happened with this song in particular. 

Sun Airway is based out of Philadelphia and reminds me of Animal Collective + Coldplay. Strange combination perhaps, but the atmospheric “bliss pop” background mixed with Coldplay-esque vocals are what brought me to this comparison. This track is off the band’s debut album, Nocturne of Exploded Crystal Chandelier, which came out in October on Dead Oceans and will be released in January in the UK. 

Another favorite track of mine is “American West” which I posted on my blog yesterday out of sheer excitement. Enjoy!
